Retired teacher and keen carnivalist and lover of steel pan music. First introduction to pan was in 1960's in London. In 1970's there was a steel band in the school where I taught. The pan tuner was called Speedy and came from East Dry River, POS. He introduced me to his friend Neil, nephew of John Slater one of the fathers of pan and author of a short book on his life as a pan player. I later married Neil and we are still together! Daughter Tanya used to play pan with Pantonic steel band in London. We visit Trinidad every year and always try to take in some pan.
