Mr Rollnick; U said that U R a "Pan Fanatic" and, that being said, U think that our steel orchestras will always be a "Niche Genre" meaning, it is best fitted for playing a distinctive or categorical type of music, meaning Calypso, well my good man, let me enlighten U a bit, "PAN", our instrument, evolve out of a need for spiritual enlightenment, and that being said, it is an instrument like no other, it has an IDIOM and PHILOSOPHY all it's own, it can take the place of every conventional instrument in the world, but these conventional instruments cannot do the same, they can attempt it, the pan tone, intonation, accuracy, and pitch alone does it for the instrument, if U listen carefully to any recording with a pan and conventional instruments, the very first pan note played submerge's those instruments, vocal, guitar, keyboard, ect, and in most studio remix, the mixing engineer's tone down the pan's, because the pan may appear's to be too loud, so there goes your niche genre theory, I'm speaking from Xperiance, as I'm a pan tuner, a piano tuner, mixing engineer, and a radical activist for this beautiful instrument of OUR"S. I'll be posting a Discussion on the Instrument it's invention and development...
