I am the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kendrum Music Academy & Recording Studio, Inc. I teach and music for the steelpan and other instruments to Caribbean and non-Caribbean students living in Canada. A notable high-quality characteristic of KYSO my community ensemble based in Brampton Ontario is its standing of excellence in steelpan musicianship. This status is maintained through formal music literacy using the steelpan instrument. My students have performed pan music, by invitation, at numerous important functions in Canada and the United States. One notable performance piece is the Guyanese Folk Medley a piece arranged my me and performed by his Kendrum Youth Steel Orchestra (KYSO) The piece was recorded and published on iTunes, Apple music as well as other popular digital platforms. My composition “Cathedral of the Rain Forest” inspired and dedicated to Mount Roraima can also be heard on all digital platforms for music. Many Guyanese and other Caribbean youths presently living in Guyana enjoy tutoring by me through my online music program provided by my academy "Kendrum Music Academy and Recording Studios INC". According to Mr. Ronald Lammy a prominent Guyanese advocate of the Art of Steel Pan and promoter of all Caribbean Art forms; Mr. Wyatt is a superior music educator who extends his creativity and teaching methods by using contemporary electronic mechanisms. He expanded music literacy recommendations of Guyanese icon Hugh Sam and collaborated with colleagues to develop and establish the first full music education program through the steelpan using eLearning methodologies. Kenton Wyatt implemented his own innovative creations to launch the seminal program (Online Steel Pan education) in Boston, MA. Now extended to Suriname Guyanese owned “AlphaMax Academy” where students successfully write the Caribbean Exam in music “CXC.” Mr. Kenton Wyatt continues to work diligently on music innovations and rhythms indigenous to Guyana and hopes to one day come up with a distinct musical sound that Guyana can be proud to call its own.
