I am involved in the Steel Band movement for the past 40 years. My pan music career started with the then ICI Monarchs Steel Orchestra of Malabar, Arima. This is from 1969 to 1975. The Band became inactive for the next 3 years. In 1979, five members reactivated the Band. We were all leaders in our rights. Most importantly, one was the TUNER and ARRANGER, that is MR. Edwin Bartlette. This was a guy who had done so much for the Pan selflessly up until his death in in the early nineteen nineties. The rebirth of this Band is Rhapsody Steel Orchestra, Rhapsody Steel and Brass, Rhapsody Steel and Brass and the P.H.I.. I have been the Manager of this band since then and between these times I have also managed Arima Golden Symphony and the Arima Melodians Steel. Just before playing a part in the formation of a new Band , Opera Symphonic Sounds. In fact I played my last Panorama in this Band in 1985. In 1999, I rejuvenated Rhapsody Rebirth Steel Orchestra. A Band that was introduced to the Next Generation. A conventional Band without Panorama in mind. Up to 2005 the band had only taken part in 2 Pan in the 21st Century and 2 Music Festivals. Amplification of this Band that year brought us closer to playing in Carnival fetes with Brass. In 2009, another step was taken to introduce the Electronic Pan, The P.H.I. (Percussive Harmonic Instrument) We are also known as Rhapsody Next Generation. Follow our page on Facebook, Rhapsody NG and read our History.
