The Sirge Conglomerate [www.SirgeSound.com] was born from the brainchild of entrepreneur Sirge (who himself is "Brownsville Brooklyn, NY Bred", but born within a family whose roots are from Panama, Jamaica and Colombia). He started as a DJ spinning for hip-hop and house parties, then “graduated” upward towards high school and university parties (ie.C.W. Post Campus, Brooklyn Campus, etc.) in addition to having a college radio show at Long Island University [of which years later he came back to assist briefly as a Sound/ Lighting Tech Person and Stage Hand at the Kumble Theatre for Performing Arts for events like Rha Goddess’ “One Woman Show” and also for The Brooklyn Youth Chorus]. This all the while beginning his quest as a dj/ producer for upcoming neighborhood acts. After going through a few industry pitfalls (no names mentioned), but having good dealings and/ or friendships with Daddy-O [and hiphop band Stetsasonic], DJ Dice [formerly of Das EFX, now for Redman], balladeer group Blue Magic,…and turning down an offer to sign in the past with Def Jam Recordings [as part of a group], he decided to focus on his own ventures. Coupled with his own equipment and studio knowledge, he joined a community based organization [BAMN Productions/ Basement Recordings] of individuals who taught him the essentials of analog, digital and midi recording. It was within this organization he began to “give back” while assisting them doing midi clinics within the community and in educational institutions as Medgar Evers College. He has also appeared on music industry panels such as one held at Long Island University in the past with other panelists such as hiphop legend KRS-1’s former group protégé’s “Channel Live”. The Sirge Conglomerate encompasses a music production division [Sirge Sound Productions], a music publishing division [The original S.N.I.P.E.R. Music Publishing], and a record label [Enigmatism Recordings] among others...such as the early stages of an online clothing line store called Da’Beat Barn and Da’Beat Barn2. Sirge’s music production division has accomplished a few milestones such as establishing a cozy midi recording studio, winning "best producers" award for a cable access tv show “Open Mic TV” [thereby, obtaining interviews among others..with drummer Bobby Simmons of Stetsasonic, Luke of 2Live Crew, and Angelo Ellerbee of Double XXposure], assisted promotion for an ABC network tv show ["Jake In Progress"..feat John Stamos], and received acknowledgement from his peers within The Recording Academy (NARAS) in 2005 and 2008. The music publishing division has obtained airplay for a few of the company’s catalogue songs on internet radio and also handled music publishing services for a few independent recording artists with projects currently out such as indie soul/r&b singer/ songwriter Maya Azucena, and trip-hop group Soul Rebelz [now known under “The Single Cell Symphonic Trio”]. The record label is currently in the planning and implementation phase of releasing a compilation cd soon with various artists we’ve found in multi genres of music. This project if implemented correctly is hoped to represent these artists in areas of music such as pop, r&b, soul, rock, latin, hiphop, acoustic, alternative, dance, and reggae among others. In July/ August of 2008, the CEO himself [Sirge] volunteered his efforts by being on a panel of judges for the 1st Annual Native-E Music Awards [www.Native-E-MusicAwards.com] being held late September. This event celebrates the music and talent from artists of Native American decent. Sirge also occupied his time by submitting photo artwork in an exhibit called “CLICK” held at New York’s own Brooklyn Museum. Although not in the main gallery, his artwork was in the exhibit. Lastly assistance on an independent movie short [Desperation] for an upcoming indie film maker rounds out the two month activity for the Sirge Conglomerate in addition to the overall music agenda. Independent Movie "Desperation" UPDATE: As of 2009, the independent film short "Desperation" assisted on in the Summer of 2008 was aired on CableVision and TimeWarner on January 30, 2009 at 10am EST. This project has garnered us "Audio/ Sound Mixer" screen credits and the film maker is currently submitting it into various film festivals. We are also planning a combination cd release/ label launch party to not only do the obvious, but to also display and offer to the audience-at-large another reason why independent artists are the seeds to a new music dynasty [the dynasty being The Sirge Conglomerate as well]. It is the plan to springboard off the success of each of these divisions and ones to come in the future (ie. dvd/ movie production, etc.) that we may be able to "give back" by providing opportunities including, but not limited to things such as employment and "random acts of kindness". Sirge has already done a few things such as donated funds and his efforts to AidsWalk, Breast Cancer research, and ran a mini marathon for charity. There’s more on his and the company’s plate for the future...but we can’t do it without you all...thank you. Sirge is currently member to The Recording Academy (NARAS) which is responsible for the annual Grammy Awards, ASCAP which monitors “airplay” of songs in various mediums for songwriters and music publishers, and also SoundExchange which does similar work; however, monitors sound recordings for artists and record labels.
