Vernon Bailey is currently the Professional Placement Network (PPN) coordinator at WorkForce One in Broward County, Florida. In this function Vernon provides career/job coaching, individualized counseling in résumé and cover letter development, interviewing, networking and job search skills to professionals in career transition. Vernon entered public service after spending over thirty-three years in private industry. He was a telecommunications professional, having worked for New York Telephone/Verizon in New York for almost twenty-seven years, with Nortel Networks for almost three years and with Network Plus for over two years. While at Verizon and Nortel, Vernon had the opportunity to work in the Caribbean, Latin America, the Asia Pacific Region, Indonesia and China. Some of his responsibilities included planning, engineering, building, and training locals in their countries to manage and maintain their telecommunications networks. Vernon was born in Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago. After graduating from Tranquility Boy's School in Woodbrook, he worked for three years at T & TEC's Power Plant in Port of Spain. He later moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada to continue his studies at Mt. Royal College. Years later he moved to New York City to continue his studies and where he began his telecommunications career at New York Telephone/Verizon.
