I have loved steel band music since I first heard it way back in the 1950's. I especially favored Pan am North Stars, (and still do) as being the best players of classical music. Of course, the Bands as well as the players have become more dexterous in their playing and more innovative as well!...It's too bad that I haven't heard of any Band that comes close to the tonal quality of Pan Am North stars; maybe it's because they were a Band that was ahead of their time.

Yeah Hannibal, with Pan Am North Stars the 3rd and 5th passage's of the 2nd movement was 3 to 5 RPM faster "allegro" rather than "allegretto" meaning fairly quick, but not quite as "allegro" on the sheet music, other wise it would have been what Anthony Williams always pursue, "perfecto mundo"/ perfection, as for Sandbach Syncopators, from the 1st movement, their "Crash Cymbals" was too loud, which did them in, in the 2nd movement the "tenors were not in unison, and flat notes in the staccato phrasing, was way way off " , you can hear it for your self in the recording's, if I can hear it, so can "Adjudicator Professor John Russell"...
Yes Hannibal; there is of the Ed Sullivan Show, but not with the tune Maria, as Maria was recorded in 1965 after the Show which was in 1964, there are also recording's of the Marionettes Choir, and other recordings that was not released, Williams also entrusted me with tuning techniques to evolve the instrument tonality beyond where it is today, as his protege, I'm reluctant to publish said info, because of the abuse of Williams skill's and contribution for which ppl like Brian Copeland et al implementing "Plagiarism"/ given credit for his work, but, I could get in touch with U sometime in the future and get some music to U...
