Musical arranger/performer for “Pan Maestros”, a 10 piece Trinidad-based steelband. 1999 - 2007 Musical Director/arranger for “Fascinators Steel Symphony” a Trinidad-based, 60 piece steelband. 1992 - 2007 Pan maker, tuner/arranger for the “Pantastic Steelband”. Since 2004 Director/arranger/tuner for “Panschool”. Since 2007 Member of the Melbourne Ska Orchestra. Member of Bustamento Member of the Badjohns - a 5 piece band that features the steelpans and the popular music of Trinidad and Tobago. Founding President of PANZ - the steelband association of Australia/New Zealand Lennox was born in Trinidad, W.I. in 1966, the son of one of Trinidad’s pre-eminant steelpan makers and steelband leaders, the late Aldwyn ‘Madman’ Jordan. Lennox’s whole life has been lived within the rich steelband culture of Trinidad and, following his father’s death in 1991, he took over the mantle as leader, tuner and arranger of Fascinators Pan Symphony, one of Trinidad’s highly regarded 60 piece steel orchestras. As well as his role as band leader, Lennox has been a very successful competitor as a solo pan player in the many steelpan competitions held in Trinidad annually. He is a very accomplished player as well as an arranger and steelpan maker. Lennox initially learned the skills of ‘pan’ making from his father, but has also worked in Switzerland with Esa Tervala, one of Europe’s finest pan makers. Lennox has earned himself a reputation as a fine instrument maker over the ensuing years and is one of only two qualified pan makers in Australia, as well as being the only experienced arranger for steelbands in this country. In recent years, Lennox has, on three occasions, lead ‘Fascinators’ through to the finals of “Panorama”, Trinidad’s famous National Steelband Competition, with some of his fine musical arrangements. Having lived his entire life exposed to, and playing steelband music, he is as qualified as any of Trinidad’s other great steelband leaders to arrange and lead an ensemble of complete novices or experienced players. His intuitive sense for creating arrangements of beautiful simplicity or staggering complexity, is born out of years of exposure to playing in leading steelbands, as well as arranging for his own. In the short time that Lennox has been resident in Australia, his reputation as an inspirational arranger and exponent of steelband music has made him much in demand. In the wake of the first Australian Steelband Festival, held in Marysville, Vic., 2013, a festival in which he had a central role, arranging music for two of the winning bands and performing with four of the steelbands - as well as both of the stage bands that entertained the audience at the Gala Night Masquerade Party - Lennox has been directly involved in the further development of two new steelbands as well as working as an arranger for the Royal Guard of Oman Steelband. Along with his regular steelpan making/tuning and steelband arranging commitments, Lennox has been a feature artist playing/ touring with the Melbourne Ska Orchestra for the past years. Lennox lives on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast with his wife and two young children. He makes his living as a pan maker/tuner and pan educator, as well as being a working musician in several groups.
