Paddy Corea; your Invaders dates are way OFF, Oval Boy's derived in 1947, and changed their name in 1949 to Night Invaders, and later to INVADERS, the Captain was Stanley HUNT, Ellie was made Captain in 1950 just before 1951TASPO, and as for INVENTION'S, an invention is when someone create something for the very first time, that has not been in existance prior, therefore, we only one inventor of the steel pan, Carlton "sonny/sire" Roach, the rest are innovator's, and they are Anthony Williams, Neville Jules, and Percy "lizard" Thomas, Ellie nor Bertie never invent anything, Ellie attempted to innovate Williams innovated double second's, and Bertie attempted to innovate Thomas already innovated double tenor...
Paddy if you want recordings of old Invaders on CD's call Roger Simpson in Trinidad, 868 344 7114. He has done for quite a few people up to two weeks ago. Tell him Gerard Clarke aka "Clarkie" gave you the number.
Hey Paddy, I finally got a chance to listen to your retro jazz fusion group, "Demon Fuzz", and I thought it was very impressive
Listened to the "Afreaka" album and it was reminiscent of the classic jazz/ funk of the 1970's.
I was very impressed with your versatility as a musician, producer and arranger, and can't wait to listen to the rest of your stuff, since I do my best listening while driving.
when i speak is not with emotions , but with facts, starlift has NOT train more pan players than all the steelbands in svg add together, beside this year and last year when was the last time they had a training program, sion hill has had annual training program for the last 11 years with i am a prat of and even more before that, turning out on average 35 -45 players in each year, thats about close to 500+ players so far, name 2 bands that has come out of starlift, or even one for that matter, sion hill was NEVER given free arragement nor pans from starlift, the arranger was paid and also money paid for use of pan and players, starlift was once the band in svg but not anymore, as for me knwing what music is, as an arranger for 3 bands and player for 20 years in thik i know music by now.lol. you telling me google your name does not prove one thing when it come to what we were talking about. and that is the final word
to say that the school bands in vincy was a total let down this year is a very dumb statement to make, jr pan has also been on the rise for about 5 to 6 years and keeps improving. the can play and even your beloved starlift have players that were trained from school bands. if it was not for these bands there will have never been a platform for bands to build on when it comes to getting new players since most bands do not have annual training programs.
starlift was the band to beat, not anymore buddy, there was never any talk about banning no band as u did say (to give the other bands a chance to arrive at our standards Obviously they will pay us the equivalent of prize money for a guest appearance) you need to get your facts correct.Currently, most if not all bands can handle their instruments. seems to me like some ppl still living in the past
Hey, Paddy, if you have any rare record albums and you need help digitizing and posting them, you can send me the records if you wish.
I'll digitize them and also post them, and I'll make a cd for you and return the albums with the cd. Should be no problem since I live in New Nampshire.
