My name is Samijo"Sam I" Hemans,I was born and grown up in Jamaica,Montego Bay,St James.I went to Central basic school then Albion primary school then Knockalva technical high school where i graduated with two certificates,three cxc's and earned respect from my teachers by self conduct,disciplne and when i play for my graduation pleasing the audience with my smooth way of playing and even after i left school i have been called by my school to play annually for the school's graduations. I was introduced to music by my family my mother's side was gospel music and my father side was reggae music.I was inspired to deejay by my uncle Nolan"D-j missian" Brown,Franklyn Rhoden and Joel Brown then I started to write songs.my first musical instrument was a keyboard that was given to me by my uncle Tommy,and my cousin Ravon Rhoden and I would listen to the radio and try to play the songs that broadcast on the radio.I would play the bass lines and ravon would play the melody.I was introduced to the Steeldrums by Ravon Rhoden In late 2001 which i was taught by the late Errol Caseley R.I.P. I started playing music in 2003 with lenny man band"watcha steelband" where i got lots of experience,I got the chance to play for people from all over the world that came to visit Jamaica and locals.I even got the chance to perform on the famous" Air Jamaica jazz and blues festival" in 2009.I have always had a passion for playing bass guitar even in my time of playing the steel pan so every gig that we went on,I always ask the bass player that we performed with if i could just jam one tune and that song was Bob Marley's Jammin. In 2008 i met Fitzroy Thompson and i was inspired by his playing so i ask him to teach me.He began teaching me in 2009 then i started to play bass in 2010 full time and play for the"Bung Guh Lhung Steelband where i earn the opportunity to play on national television and other gigs with resident bands and Steel bands.My Dream that i must fulfill is to become a bass player who is known all over the world,a composer,a writer, travel the seven seas with as much artistes and musicians i can play for in my lifetime and have couple albums and singles at the side of my bass career If god keep providing me with the source of life. people who inspires me: Fitzroy Thompson,Taddy p,Nathan East,Victor Wooten,Michael Jackson,D-j missian,Joel brown,Ravon"steely"Rhoden and motivated by all my family and friends.God bless you all and one love.
