i have been a pan jumpie,before Pan Jumpie wasn't cool. a baby boomer, growing up in Trinidad until i left at 14. arriving i New York, in the early sixties, we attended basement parties where a "pan side" was expected to be providing the live music along with the DJ. back then we danced to the Pan,but virtually sit down when the dj spun his music. Acoustically the electronic music lacked the power. but Pan, OMG! we reveled in it. Today more than 45years later, i am still awestruck at the quality of Pan and the advancements made over the years for the instrument. To see so many youngsters playing with such deft instrumentation is a joy to behold. Long live the Pan.
