This is the 2005 panorama performance from AfroPan, the oldest steel orchestra in Toronto. The annual panorama event, organized by the Ontario Steelpan Association, is called "Pan Alive." In 2005, AfroPan came second in a field of ten competitors. http://www.panonthenet.com/world/canada/index.htm

This is great news. It is important for us to know our History and to keep "Pan Alive".I always maintain that Pan is a communnal instument, and it is now an instument all over the globe. Hats off to AfroPan. Keep on keeping on, our children need this. God Bless! Once more, Congratulations!

Afropan is My Band
I could stand up and say that seriously as man
You see, I’m not just another fan of the steelpan
Who show up because I’m a Trini and I supposed to love pan
I’m St. Lucian, Antiguan, Grenadian, Canadian, Bajan, Jamaican
Even have 2 girls all the way from Japan
Forsaking cultural practices, sleep food, boyfriend and even woman
Just for the sweet pleasures of caressing my melodious steelpan
Even though them damm hooks always cutting up meh hand.
As an arranger and composer it's such a joy to see steelband music---this music out of the bowels of the Trinbagonian culture---being performed by people of so many different ethnic backgrounds, people of different age groups. It's pretty astounding and as a Trinidadian I feel a sense of pride whenever I hear it or see it performed, for this is unique.
