congrats Odie you defied your critics, shut up the prophets of doom and gloom, music is an expression and pan "the poor man's piano" provides a cakewalk route for one to express themselves, there was a heated discussion some months ago about whether pan people were muscicians, in my mind another question comes up "who or what is a muscian" now who or what is a steelband arranger, most of the arrangers had degrees in music, at least two of them have no knowledge of music theory in a formal manner, yet from the offerings they understand physically music theory, two of such arrangers played "trini" and I am hearing harmony, rythym, motivic developments, reharmonization, interpretation, etc all the ingredients to meet the judging criteria, for me music theory is only a tool to assist musicians, after all it was created for that purpose in its inception, Phytagoros was attempting to pass knowledge back to his peers after studying accomplished musicians in Egypt whilst he was studying mathematics and came up with mathematical formulas to translate musical noises and expressions, later on the European Monks came up with a simple graph to illustrate the same to assist the musicians, sorry about the tangent, but Odie and BJ and others hats off to you guys, you are true musicians,keep up the good work

Thanks Kern for posting Despers USA 2011 Panorama performance. Good job and kudos to the band and also to my nephew, Odie, on his maiden attempt at arranging a panorama piece. This year's results were the closest in many a year. Only 12.5 points separated the first 5 Steel Orchestras. It is also the first time that three Americans arranged and placed 1st, 5th and 8th respectively.
