Judith, you hit the nail on the head in terms of both the cost of the app (is it free?) and the intellectual property rights. The 2 developers I'm sure are savvy enough to have patented the app (or else it couldn't be sold as a commercial product). It's a tempting reason for me to finally buy an i-pad.
Amazing and a tribute to the creative skills of these two gentlemen......it is also a scary development. Despite what was said of the application/adaptation in relation to the world of the live steel drum sound there will be consequences, both positive and negative. It will certainly lead to some "lively discussion".
This is fantastic! How soon can the app be downloaded- is it free? Great learning tool potential for those of us who always wanted to learn to play pan.Cheers! All the lagal implications have to be addressed viz. intellectual property rights etc.
If there could be some way to store musical lines in a file, then I could use it as an arranging tool.
Obviously, digital pan can't replace a steelband Jourvert morning, but since the future is going to be almost all digital, it's a step toward the future. And since the current generation already accesses just about everything via the internet, it could be a great teaching tool.
After listening attentively to one of the interviews ,it was stated that Pantribago had given the full authority to implement the Digital Steelpan , at least my point of view is that now interest is being paid genuinely towards the Steelpan , youths would be exposed to the same ,not forgting or leaving out the monetary rewards that lies thereafter,,i leave the rest fot Pan' tum and Doc lance along with Gittens , Bugs and other members to voice their opinion.respect.

This was good thinking to produce this before any other country. We have to be # 1 with everything related to Pan.
Wow!!
