  Brenda,

  I agree with you whole heartedly, Slow versions allow the listener a chance to really hear how good the arrangement is. For those of us who listen avidly to the practice versions, we are always taken aback by the judging decisions on the night. They miss so much of the nuances and extended chords.

  I don't understand the need to race through a performance when so much hard work has gone into it.

  When pan goes on the road no one can jump up to the 8 minute sprint version from panorama performance.

  which is why I think steelbands on carnival days have been an endangered species.
