Synopsis by Makeda Jeffrey-Brizan
Recollections of years gone by often ignite a frenzy of nostalgia. Dreamers reminisce on simpler times, when two dollars and an able body afforded the most memorable of nights at Caribbean street jams, commonly dubbed Blockos. The smorgasbord of fluorescent attire, roadside cuisine, and music blasting from the speakers generated a euphoric, buoyant atmosphere where patrons would frolic and dance to their hearts’ content.
Much like its predecessors in the Vintage series, Vintage 4: Blocko Riddim intensifies said reactions. Producer MistaRoots successfully marries old school authenticity with all the trappings of modern musical technology. With contributors like Pupa Leendi, Menace XL, Mysta Lyon, Farmer Nappy, and Inspector, there is no cast more qualified for this execution of timeless quality and new age concepts. Each track uniquely triggers a memory, a moment, a vibe from the good old days. The resulting effect: a time warp back to eighties and nineties, when the world was high on life and intoxicated with music!
