for the love of Boogsie please remove this clip, it is obvious that this Master Blaster is having a bad hair day, anybody who does not know boogsie and pull up this clip, would think that boogsie is either loosing it or never had it, he is so vexed that he is rolling worse than a novice whilst the hypocrctes are reacting like fanatics, praising up what is a horrible performance, not only is the playing off, his singing is out of sync and tone,he is beating the pan and the wind is howling through the mics like a pot on the fire,i have too often hear comments about boogsie slamming pans and had
i not heard some of the most fantastic ever playing from this Maestro i would have called him a slammer, but he might be overating himself, to think that under extremely harsh conditions he could be the same. he needs to make sure that when he goes on show that things are right or else duck even if they put him on the spot, that's what i do, after going through the same, a vexed musician cyar deliver the food of love, and you can clearly see his frustration from the very begining, please pull the video WST
It amazes me that some people cannot see Len Shape as a genius. The man's mind is very rapid. He thinks and see things in the line of music, faster than all of us. We should not pan "Boogsie's loud playing. That is part of him being a genius. How many of you all can hold your own with Boogsie as a player. My favourite pannist is Robert Greenidge. However, Boogsie is much more explosive than Robert, and that makes him more creative. Do not forget that Boogsie has a photographic mind when coming to the pan. He is best at figuring out the format of any style of pan. Lets not use his loud playing to pan him. Can you all recall who placed 2nd at panorama 1996. The man arranged an entire new version of "Mind yuh Business" in just 13 days.
the naysayers of boogsie's performance in this clip need to hush and try to learn something. the genenius just expressing what he is feeling at the moment. the man play outside the box as some artist do from time to time, namely miles davis, who didn't care wht people like you all think. herbie hancock also played out the box at times too, so what. it takes courage and fearlessness to accomplish a feat like that, you all just jealous that you don't have the heart to try something outside the box.

to the unbiased critic...u smoking or what? Because he doesn't fit into a formula u vex? I think that's what makes him great...what makes world renowned musicians like WINTON MARSALIS recognise his genius. Boogsie thinks outsie the box...I forget the technique that you are criticising, but there is a technique where you seem to totally go away from the chord structure (and even the key) and you kinda bringit back in line. Also notice there was a mood change just before he went backinto the melody where he would have been exploring different chords to change the whole feel of the song. There is one part where he was going one way and the band wanted to go the other, but he has a habit of just choosing one or two chords in the song to solo around...and I think that's what he wanted to do but the band seemed t want to play the full song. Saw him shoot them a look when that happened :p lol

When I was there we were acustomed to him rearranging the whole tune the nite before panorama finals!!!!!
