Sparrow once stated that he was "Trini by boat" and "Grenadian by birth". Trinidadians however have always claimed Sparrow as their own and according to his 1962 calypso they were begging him *Sparrow come back home*.

Trinidad Express -- Jun 15, 2015 -- Grenada-born Dr Slinger Francisco, 79, better known as the Mighty Sparrow has been conferred with the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
The award was announced in the birthday honours list of Queen Elizabeth II. The citation said the award is for services to culture. read more http://ow.ly/Os7M4
