  • Thanks Glenroy for your education to the "lay people" (lol).
I am surprised that Sidd did not know who Macbeth was. As I a little boy I remember this tune.
Keep up the good works. love peace and pan

  • Macbeth was a Trinidadian, Sid. As a matter of fact, Ralph MacDonald, his son, though he was born in the US and grew up in Harlem had strong ties to his ancestral land, so much so that he composed a song in its honor. (The story is that he offered the song "Just the two of Us" to T&T, but they never responded to his offer).

The song is obviously a Trinidad calypso from that era, which sounded somewhat like a type of Jamaican folk music called mento.

Obviously the poster of this music on YouTube is one of those who is still under the impression that such music originated in Jamaica. There is still a lot of them, since Trinidad still hasn't done a good enough job of promoting their culture.

We still got to be grateful, though; he has posted some rare classic stuff on Youtube.

  • Incidentally,Trinidadian Patrick MacDonald, Macbeth the Great, was the father of legendary panist, jazz percussionist and recording artist, the late Ralph MacDonald.
