New York, USA - SteelPan, Rhythm sections, Oil, Mas, Paint, plenty powder and thousands of revelers - all were out in full force for J'Ouvert 2013 in New York, parading along the traditional route of Empire Boulevard east-bound and then south along Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn. From the wee hours of Monday straight into the dawning of an overcast morning, the steelbands of New York and surrounding areas and rhythm sections, joined the crowds that turned out for the annual ritual unfolding this early Labor Day. The likes of steel bands D'Radoes, Pantonic, Hearts of Steel, Oasis Youth, Philly Pan Stars, ADLIB, Despers USA, CrossFire, Pan Liberty, Utopia Pan Soul, Legend Stars, Steel Xplosion, Tropical Pan Vibes and several rhythm sections - made merry with Jab Jabs, impish devils, ole mas individuals, 'pretty mas' - and the list goes on.
