Tchaikovsky may well have come up out of his grave to applaud this performance! This was very well done indeed, and the marriage of pan and violin a happy one.
The success of this marriage should not be cause to inhibit panists in their range of musical expression. In the Panorama context, it is perfectly okay to "beat" pan as opposed to "playing" it.
I wouldn't want Panorama arrangers and panists to develop a complex.
Thankfully, such as Boogsie would not fall for that, LOL! And I hope the next generation of arrangers likewise will maintain the natural virility of the Panorama art form, and not take with them to the Panorama stage an aesthetic that is alien to that forum.
