Orpheus, sensing the torment to which this decree will subject them both (him and Euridice), accepts the challenge and proceeds to the Underworld. In the Lydians interpretation, the opera is put in the context of traditions of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, where the shepherds are fancy sailors, and the grove is a panyard (hence the white pan racks which make up the stage decor) The Lydians production of Orpheus and Euridice at Queen's Hall Auditorium, St. Ann's, Trinidad and Tobago.
