  • you are crazy! 5 OUT TEN PAN SONGS. woman ON THE BASS IS THE ONLY ONE OF NOTE .DESPERADOES HAS ABOUT 15 TO 20 OF NOTE. iWoman on the bass is on vinyl since 1984 or thereabouts..... so yeah it is a staple at parties and so on Rebecca is not...see the point.

  • We can all listen and say Clive was a master of pan but in no way does, he comes close to the genius of pan that is Leon Smooth Edwards. Clive had many a good year at Despers without a doubt, but ask anyone who knows good pan the most commanding tune ever and they would tell you Woman on the Bass. Just to prove it all of these bands played their signature song for the turn of the century competition in 2000 and All Stars came out on top once again.  In a race to the top All Stars holds the record of five out of the ten most memorable songs ever plaid on pan. Please do not get me wrong Rebecca was an excellent performance by Desperados and will live on as their greatest achievement, however that is just one of many to choose from.

  • Undoubtedly one of the maestro's greatest works.

  • Truly a fantastic arrangement

  • Great things and music will never go away, they are here forever.
  • so heavenly...the notes are just speaking volume...Clive Bradley was just BRILLIANT and a MASTER!!!
What a performance.twenty-six years and still a winning piece.
  • What about the passing of Theo 'Black James' Stephen, one of the greatest tenor player from Free French.\? Winner of music festival playing 'Anna'. then leader of Southern All Stars from San Fernando. anda member of TASPO.
And what about Belgrave Bonaparte of Southern Symphony? They also passed away. NO MENTION
  • Wish I could get the recorded video..... It brought tears to our eyes. Even though we do not have the video, we have the memories.... We were there. (1983)
    BEST OF HIS BEST.
  • Ian I appreciate your trivia and inside knowledge. My uncle who use to play with Satisfiers back in de day wants to know how I can correct his "his-stories"! LOL
  • Just a bit of trivia for my fellow pan people. This Desperadoes performance is from the 20th Century Panorama Winners Concert, from 1999. All 11 Panorama winners from the 60's, 70,s, 80's and 90's were featured and were compensated with $100,000 each. Would you believe that there were only 11 players from the original 1983 winning panorama performance, that played on this video.
