The music here is not that of Ron Berridge but that of Ed Watson although on the same Calypsomania double album which also includes music by Ronnie Jack and Rockerfellas Combo

Teddy, I have to agree with you.
Its a nice arrangement, but Ron had a distinctive touch, a flair that he added to his calypso arrangements, especially when not backing up a singer.
This is more of a standard calypso arrangement, true to the original tune but without too many embellishments.
And, way back in the sixties we realized that Ron was a special arranger with a tune from The Sound of Music called "the Lonely Goatherd".
We knew the original tune, since the movie was popular back then, and we marveled at what Ron did with it.
The man was a master at arranging the Calypso/Latin/Jazz style that was popular in Trinidad in that era.
This certainly does not sound like the Ron I have heard before. Ron has a particular sound, a way of weaving the instruments which is the sign of a great arranger.Check back just one year and listen to Kitch's '67 LP which I rate as the best calypso LP musically. Even his "A taste of honey" is another just says Ron all the way as being the best big band arranger we ever had. After hearing the Divine Echoes do their first public appearance I was not even slightly impressed and suggested that Ron be its official arranger, which never happened. What a pity!
