"Do something for pan?" It's a cultural problem -- everyone in the world likes a freeco but we seem to like it to the n'th power. It's another symptom of our disrespect for art forms in general as exemplified, e.g., by the fact that patrons at calypso tents and other cultural shows get up and leave DURING (not AFTER) the last song. We do not realise that by patronising pan events and giving true support to "we band" we will actually collectively be doing "something for pan."

He is correct in spotlighting the "freeco" mentality especially among steel band supporters who believe their support entitles them to enjoy their band's performance for free, even on the Panorama stage.
*freeco
synonym - "me eh payin to hear no pan on de drag"
translation - "I support XYZ steel orchestra, and that support entitles me to enjoy all their performances for free".
Even Pantrinbago is reluctant to challenge this mentality.

You have a point, Mr. Copeland.
Maybe it's time for us to stop looking to politicians and others to "do something for pan".
The pan fraternity is large, and getting larger.
Maybe it time for us as players, supporters and fans to step forward and "do something for pan"
