I so love the traditional sound of the road steelband as exemplified in this J'ouvert morning bomb tune. The"chipping' tempo and clutter free arrangement brings out the sweetness of the tune and of the steelband.
This is a bomb tune as would have been heard on the streets of T&T as far back as the nineteen sixties, and I'd bet Neville Jules had something to do with it.
This song of prayer and worship, is being played in a calypso rhythm on the streets on a Jouvert morning. Yet the deceptively simple-sounding arrangement completely captures the mood and the message of the song. My heart soared.
One day at a time, sweet Jesus, even carnival day!
I am led to say that God truly works in mysterious and wonderful ways.
