  On the subject of women in pan , whenever I hear this piece I remember Mrs. Marjorie Wooding's outstanding arrangement of " The Barber of Seville " that won the second place (unsponsored category) for Silvertones Steel Orchestra of San Fernando in the steelband music festival of 1967.

  A relatively unknown band at the time , Silvertones performance was one of the highlights of the festival , though unfortunately there are no recordings , and inspired me to join the band later that year when my Marabella band , Scarlet Symphony , folded.

  This is steelpan culture,,if ever one has it not in their blood ,,feels the rythmn,,,and respect the steelpan,,then there will always be negativatity,,well and professionally performed to international standard,,this is pan.
