  • SOCA got all the POTENTIAL IN THE WORLD. If the composers would just get brave and take the risk and write some more GLOBALLY NEUTRAL LYRICS we could get a real big piece of the music pie.

And notice that you don't have to WINE LIKE ANIMALS in the street to demonstrate the music!!!

    • don't know , Claude

Soca-like sounds are already out there , because it is all about tempo and there is little to the lyrics , unlike roots reggae.

So you can hear soca rhythms in commercials etc , just not soca from the Caribbean.

And the music can easily be synthesized  to play in clubs etc. by DJs , and as a matter of fact has become very similar to Jamaican dancehall.

I think that the demand for up- tempo soca style music , though not overwhelming , is there and is being met , just not by Trinidadian artists.

Trinidadian soca artists with a few exceptions, haven't really done much to distinguish soca from other similar up-tempo world  music genres.

      So the beat goes on.
