As the Concerned Individuals for Pan make themselves ready to oppose the ruling executive of Pan Trinbago they should be vigilant of how they relate to all people be it local or foreign that is concerned about what they do.
Seeing that today those that play pan is 50% both male and female your group does not reflect this reality, it is disrespectful to women that they are not represented. I'm sure this is an oversight that will be addressed, also you recently had your first event last Friday, don't you think it would have been a good to let everyone know if it was a success or failure or it's no business of those in foreign? we are in this thing together. It will take the Global Village to move the thing forward.

As I looked at the pics from Music for Change I saw the support the CIP got from the "middle age plus" people, they were over whelming. This should tell us how they feel about the Steelband, not Pan but the Steelband, they are ready to support any group that is going to fight to restore some dignity in the Steelband Movement, this is a feel good moment for me. I get the same feeling when I watch Massy All Stars on carnival days, they tell the story of a generation that realize the importance of the Steelband in our culture and will always show their support for it. THEY ARE MAKING A STATEMENT.
Oswald, I enjoyed viewing the pictures of the event, my concern is what are you guys doing to bring more youths into the fold, performing, educating, mentoring to help advance the movement?
CIP is asking those who want to see and make a better product/ community/ Nation,to come be part of the process.
Some has answered the call and are now contributing to plan a way forward, some are sitting on the sidelines and hoping that someone else do the work and they reap the benefits,some are totally against this effort,but cannot tell you why.Some say we haven't presented a slate of candidates,so we not serious,and this is when we are inviting them to be part of Constitutional Reform discussion,which may be pointing to a different type of governance structure.
YES odw, CIP is critically thinking about the youths,and as Dane keeps repeating,this effort is mainly to leave them the best possible vehicle for self advancement.
Thanks Oswald, I'm reminded of the story of Boogsie's father's influence at an early age and Bradley as a student at Diego Martin Boys RC school, he was called the teachers pet. The principal saw his potential and took a special interest in giving him extra lessons after classes to help him advance, the rest is history. Dane is doing the RIGHT thing, keep up the good work.
I want to clear up something here. I like OSWALD ALEXANDER and I have a lot of respect for his contributions to PAN. I never thought that all this CIP thing was ever going to unfold and put us on opposite banks of this PAN TRINBAGO river. But I cannot dilute my political views or deny my vision of the PAN TRINBAGO landscape.
It would be very hard for me (impossible really) to come on this forum and spout the party line about PAN being the only musical instrument invented in the 20th Century and PAN COULD PLAY ALL KINDA MUSIC and PANORAMA MUSIC could bring in BILLIONS with LIVE GLOBAL BROADCAST and THE CLASSICAL THIS and the JAZZ THAT and the MUSICAL GENIUSES sitting down in Trinidad and ON AND ON.
But that is NOT ME. I have my own voice and that is NOT HOW I see PAN.
And when I see the CIP playing this LOSING HAND it is really hard for me to come and PAT DEM ON THE BACK and tell them that they are GUARANTEED to TAKE DOWN DIAZ. Maybe somebody leaked his medical records to them and they know that KIETH DIAZ will be dead in 18 months and that is their TRUMP CARD. But other than that IT AIN'T HAPPENING.
So nothing personal against OSWALD ALEXANDER!!! He has always been a GOOD LIMER on the forum!!!
... and you know, I was just starting to have fun with Aquil. He and I could have developed a nice, progressive relationship. The next thing I know is that the CIP ban the man from coming on the forum and posting and associating with me. Ah tell yuh, ah seeing real GESTAPO signs emanating from this CIP.
Andy, Jonathan and Victor don't live in T&T so their mindset is different, plus it is easier the do things outside where the bulk of the market is.
To me the panist in T&T exist under a shadow of hopelessness. What's there for them after the panorama band hopping? We pride ourselves on pan in school, most bands has some sort of music program but when they graduate it's only panorama then nothing.
Time has come for the "TALK" about the steelband.
To me the CIP is on the right tract, they are doing what they should be doing which is reaching out to people all over T&T. What will be most important for them is to get the endorsement of the large bands, this would be their ace in the hole if they don't get the support of the small bands, everybody knows this is where Diaz strength lies so the CIP gotta have a very strong plan "B"
My observations are based solely on the election of 2018. I believe that any attempt to remove Diaz before would end up before the courts and this is what he wants, to bankrupt his opponents.
Cecil: The CIP said that they are NOT INTO POLITICS. But they have already started campaigning for the OCTOBER 2018 VOTE -- 18 months before the election.
Well at least they have enough time to send all the DELEGATES TO REHAB so that when KEITH DIAZ come in early October and offer a BEER for their VOTE they might say: WE STOP DRINKING!!! But he could still win their vote with a few FREE PANS and some CASH -- as he always does.
This is all POLITICS!!! Everybody wants that FREE PAY CHECK and PERKS from PAN TRINBAGO.
KEITH DIAZ until 2021!!! Right now I prefer to talk about bringing PAN BACK ON THE ROAD FOR CARNIVAL than to discuss this FAILED POLITICL EFFORT by the CIP!!!
Ah have to stop talking about the PAN MUSIC because like is only Jonathan and Andy and Victor who know how to make GLOBAL PAN MUSIC!
