PAN TRINBAGO has put the STEELBAND MOVEMENT on LOCKDOWN as they fight to maintain political and financial control of the organization. There is NO ONE who could remove KEITH DIAZ and his group from office (the opposition lacks the requisite political skills -- New Visionaries, XL4PAN, UPPM, CIP, Doctor Dolly, Byron Serrette all end up in the KEITH DIAZ cemetery for failed politicians).
So PAN PROGRESS in the MECCA turns into an ocean of stagnancy while the rest of the outside world gone PAN CRAZY.
Up comes a few BIG BANDS with political and cultural and financial leverage and decide that they are going to make an attempt to save the day. They want to send bands on tour and record some music and stage some concerts and make a few splashes in the silent waters of the STEELBAND in Trinidad outside of the PANORAMA FIXATION.
What is wrong with that? I don't need a 2000+ page CIP manifesto to define an approach.
They set up a website and they offer PAN STUFF for sale (T-Shirts, CDs, PANS, Books, Music Scores, whatever -- all products they already own -- along with an international booking agency for PAN MUSIC). They set up this initial concert on July 22nd and go all out to make sure that it is a rousing success and they get MEDIA BUZZ around the CAUSE. They take the momentum from the concert and lean into local companies to make further contributions to the organization (including setting up a recording studio for PAN) and they schedule another concert for CHRISTMAS.
All the while working the media to the FULLEST.
PANORAMA comes in January- February and they take a break!!! As soon as the PANORAMA is over and the CARNIVAL BUZZ is gone, they take up PANS again with LOCAL SHOWS while they start looking at the outside world and the many ways in which they could become a player on the GLOBAL STAGE.
Or do you all want everybody to sit down and watch KEITH DIAZ kill the PAN MOVEMENT in Trinidad for the next FOUR YEARS while everybody just come on this forum and complain.

The "Big Five Foundation" real or imagined is one of the best ideas coming out of Trinidad and Tobago for the advancement of Pan in decades.
