Three Pannists Podcast was released just yesterday - led by Freddy Harris, III, Iman Pascall and Kahlil Chu. It is a podcast about pan matters. On Facebook evidently Mr. Kristian Paradis took exception to be being tagged about the launching of the Podcast.  Normally this would not be a big deal but as the musical director of Philly Pan Stars and Steel Band Director of the University of Delaware his behavior is suspect.

  • My comment (which I've now deleted) was made in reference to FH3's practice of "tagging" me, and 99 other pan people, in posts that don't involve me directly...

I try to absorb all knowledge related to pan that I can... I wasn't referencing the "Thre
e Pannists" Podcast itself (which I look forward to enjoying), and certainly not the history and culture of pan (which I am a lifelong student of). I was responding to my name being tagged in Freddy's posts promoting the podcast. When I tried to untag myself from my phone to stop notifications about the posts, I was getting an error message from FaceBook saying "function not available"

No disrespect to the artform or culture was intended. I'm sorry I reacted the way I did - it was a lapse of judgement in a moment of frustration.

    • First of all Paradis we didn't all go to school only on Sunday or only in August.

Mr. Harris III and Ms Pascall are far too talented, too intelligent and far too human to properly respond to you in the manner that you so justly deserve.

There are a hundred other ways you could have responded to being tagged to a facebook post or poster you don't want to be associated with. You, Paradis chose none of them. In fact, there is something indecent, slimy, and well beyond poor taste in not just how you responded, but the actual post you chose to respond to with such contempt,

At the same time there is something extremely liberating and revealing to catch and see you in your pure honest form.

I would recommend that Mr. Harris un-friend you immediately and get some type of internet or facebook disinfectant for every page your name is on. Furthermore, the Pan community and all associated with you, should be treated accordingly.
      bugs

      • Bugs, I deserve the flak I'm getting for my comment.  I wrote seven words that were (I'll admit!!!) as you say, "indecent, slimy, and well beyond poor taste", and I'll take full responsibility for them.  I wish I could take them back.  People who know me better don't question that my love for pan is sincere, or question my motives in promoting the art, so I think you are incorrect in saying that my mistake reveals my pure honest form.  The mistake was mine alone, and should have no effect on how any associations of mine are regarded.

I hope you can come to see me as an ally again rather than an enemy.

        Kris

  • This is what happens when outsiders get in, they only want to take the Glory and Profits and want to be left out of the struggle.

  • Real disappointed in Philly Pan Stars.  Next thing this guy will have for performing for a KKK ball. Stop allowing this vulture to pad his resume with your band.

    bugs

    • nah, bugs, it's not like that... the man is for real. he brings nothing but positivity and skill, his contribution raises us up ....
  • Catt where are you?  I have much to say on this matter. But I'm going to wait to here from you. Philly Pan Stars is your band.

    • hey bugs, I'm in and out ... just seeing this... not sure what to say.... Kris is a genuine guy and a true blue panman. seems to me like something got lost in translation in his comments.
