New Dimension Steel Orchestra Captures 2011 Grenada Bomb (Popular) Tune Title

Grenada, W.I. - Eight of Grenada’s top steel orchestras vied for the coveted “Bomb Tune” competition title in what was one of the closest competitions in years. In this hotly contested event that unfolded at the Tanteen Netball Court in the country’s capital of St. George’s, a meager half of a point separated the eventual winners New Dimension Steel Orchestra - with a score of 268 points - from its closest rival Angel Harps Steel Orchestra who garnered a score of 267.5.  Angel Harps were the defending “Bomb Tune” champions. Using a three-judge system, the maximum possible score achievable was 300 points.

Under the rules of the competition an orchestra was allowed to perform a popular, none-calypso song.
