“The Business of Pan”

This presentation will analyze the ‘Business of Steelband’ within three specific areas of Steelband activities: Instrumentation; Musicianship and Administration. •
“Instrumentation” has to do with the supply of, and issues related to: Drums; Tuning; Chroming; Styles and Suppliers.
“Musicianship” will address the musical requirements of a Steel Orchestra, including but not restricted to: arranging; rehearsals and performances.
“Administration” will explore with the leadership capacities necessary for a successful Steelband.
These three elements of the Steelband will be examined in the context of the business which each generates in Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean, and indeed - the world.

I don't think Godwin Bowen was successful at panorama competitions at the big yard. Change is good. To get respect you need to compete with the best at panorama and win. I believe he may be more successful with his craft after carnival.
A serious discussion on moveable pan racks literally on the road should be high on the agenda. For what it's worth I still can't understand how the truck noise and smoke does not affect anyone as the steelband is playing.

Here’s a question I would ask Nestor if I attended this Lecture, I’m very fascinated by management decision making. You have a very successful arranger, your band Pamberi making the Panorama finals with their arranger’s compositions. What caused the parting of ways between you and Godwin Bowen? Would like to hear from those in the know?

The Godwin Bowen years will always be the golden era of this band!! I get a tabanca for this band every single time I hear them play. To Brian, Waz, Capitan, Glen, Dorian, Clifton, Yvette, Wallace, Cuchie, Kay and other frontliners, thank you for making Carnival in the 90's so very memorable.
The problem is that their Manager, Nestor Sullivan is the downfall of the Band. He is a self serving person and he cares very little about the Heritage of this band.
