Thing that make you go Huh!

Almost everyone who attended the 2K10 Junior Panorama at the Queens Park Savannah were bewildered by the results for the 21 and Under category. Well surprise, surprise. It has now been discovered that the person (or persons) tabulating the judges scores entered an 86 for a 96 on the master score sheet, when compiling the points earned by the Renegades Youth Orch. As a result the 86 (which should have been 96 - and the bands second highest score) was eliminated as its lowest together with its highest score of 97. The net effect of the error was that Renegades youth placed second with 449 points behand St Augustine with 455. The correct aggregate for Renegades Youths is 457 points, which is to say, they won the 2K10 panorama and not St Augustine. The Band's management has taken the issue up with the Pan in The Classroom Project Unit of the Ministry of Education - organizers of the Junior Panorama and a resolution is expected soon. In the mean time parents are also asking, whether or not their kids will be compensated for lost of earnings - having been deprived of the opportunity to appear on Pan Trinbago's Champs in Concert? Huummmh!!

  • Under Diaz' tenure,he is proving to be a bigger administrative failure than Patrick Arnold ever was,and believe me that takes some topping!!
    • Mr. Aqui,

I am a fan of neither Patrick Arnold or Ketih Diaz. But Patrick Arnold was President of Pantrinbago for thirteen years.

March 25, 2010, will give Keith Diaz five MONTHS in office.

And you feel qualified to make this kind of call at this point?

      You're over the top.
  • I hope that the mistake never happened at any level of panorama before! I do not want to spectulate now. Well, there is something call checks and balances. If that system was never used, it has to be instituted into anything that Pan Trinbago does. Do you all remember the results from Pan Trinbago's elections last December. The results were posted on their website and one elected official received 454 odd votes when there were only 275 odd voters. Now, who signed off on that?
  • I have heard a lot of stories about PAN,But up in Laventille in about 1950 there was a man called Carl Grinidge ,that nane should ring a bell he was the master of pan .
Can someone say something about that that man?
    • Dear Winston,
Mr. Carl "bumpynose" Greenidge past on two decades ago. He was the uncle of Robert Greenidge, and was Desperadoes' arranger until 1962. He last performed with Desperadoes when they won Panorama in 1976.
  • Sounds like they need some new judges.
  • Mr. Marcano:

Beyond the hmmmmmmmmm factor - what does Renegades the expect as a solution to this issue? Beyond a public apology what do you want to see happen? I think this is very important because this screw up involved our youth. How you handle this issue will speak a lot about what we can expect in the future. Our youth are watching?

  • I have a confession to make...I am not very good at maths...look: 1 + 1 = 11

    See what I mean?

Well, it seems as though someone who is worse than me at maths, was allowed to tabulate the scores without some else to confirm the results. . . joke business at it's highest.

I hope this is not true, but with this Pan thing, you never know.

Hey MakeItPlain, I was thinking maybe we should ship them a calculator and a pair of glasses? lol
    • GospelPan;

When you take into consideration the job CNMG did on the broadcasting of the 2010 panorama over the internet, Advance Dynamics production of the panorama dvd and now this episode with the Junior panorama, it would appear to a blind man that your 1 + 1 = 11 would make you far to over qualified to get involved in this business.

But on a serious note - shouldn't somebody have resigned or have been fired over these embarrassing blunders?
