Mike Schwebke of Yorkville was looking for a local outlet to jam with other jazz musicians. Finding none, he made his own.

Schwebke hosts a monthly jazz jam session called The Jazz Trials at the Law Office Pub in Yorkville. On a designated Thursday of each month, professional and amateur jazz musicians alike can come out and play classic jazz standards.

"I've been playing steelpan (drum) for 16, 17 years and trying to get into jazz more. I played a lot of jazz in college. Trying to find performance outlets for jazz in the suburbs is not super easy, and to find places to just get up and play with different musicians is fairly challenging.
