Chase Manhattan Savoys Steel Orchestra performing 'Dama Antanona' from the Steelband Festival Finals of 1966. The other finalists in 1966 were North Stars, Starlift, City Syncopators and Guinness Cavaliers. Martin Albino - arranger Additional notes by Martin Albino Hi Folks. The following people were members of Savoys 1966. Tenors: Rufus Grant, Boyie Assair (deceased) Carlisle Battersby, Vaughn, Deuce Pip. Jemma Worrel Sealy, (One of the only female players at that time) Seconds:Boysin, Freddie,Goosey (deceased) Lawrence Bell. Double Tenors: Martin Albino, Rudolph Boyke. Guitars: Herman Cravelle, Dick, Eugene Thomas(deceased) ,Victor Clarke. Cellos: Learie Sutherland, Russel Wilson.Tenor Basses : Earl Callender, Elton Greenidge,.Basses: Cecil Phillip, Mickey Enoch (deceased) : Rhythm: Osmond Charles (deceased), Patrick Thomas, Leo Kowlessar. Robbie Greenidge, My favourite player, was a member at this time, but I am not sure if he performed at the Festival.

  • This tune brings back some sweet memories.  Those were the days when pan was everywhere.  We did not receive a lot of money, but our hearts was into it.  And to think people still wonder why it is called a steel orchestra.  Excellent piece..  Thank you very much WST I deffinitely listen.
