Calypso Night - A Sound Sensation - Events

Dear friends,I'm writing to share a sound sensation with you I was lucky enough to experience last night:It was a concert of Andy Narell with Calypsociation (this night called "The Andy Narell Steelband Project"), Relator and the WDR-BigBand from Köln (WDR is the radio station of Cologne). I might be wrong but I got the impression that this event came very close to a world premiere in our beloved art form. The house was sold out, they played for two and a half hours and the audience was much more than enthusiastic.The program was - amongst others - :Coffee StreetBatty MamselleNoraChina SyndromeKitchener MedleyThe PassageOne More TouchSea of StoriesAnd now the very best: They are playing this concert tonight at the "Kölner Philharmonie" and it's broadcasted live on the radio station "WDR 3". So if you're lucky you might catch the live stream on http://www.wdr3.de . Look for "WDR 3 hören" and then click on "Stream" on the right near the top of the page. Or paste http://www.wdr.de/wdrlive/media/wdr3.m3u into your external software player.They too give you the possibility of using their WDR-RadioRecorder.And if nothing works out I'll get it for you and upload it afterwards.Our local time is GMT +1 so we are 5 hours ahead of Trinidad & Tobago.Let's join for the music, best regards, WerNer

I simply couldn't resist to upload two songs of the concert as an example for the state of the art musical quality. It would be absurd to compress the files, so I give you the .wav versions of the original fm radio transmission.
This is not for commercial purpurses and strictly from one calypso lover to all of you. I hope it won't cost me my last t-shirt.

Concerning the concert: The audience at the first location were mainly big band jazz fans aged 40+... And they were all curious to here the sound of a steel band. Right from the beginning their positive reaction was overwhelming!
And one last thing: If anyone wants a cd of the concert I'll try to do what I can. Just write me an email. Perhaps it makes sense to send one to WST for documentation. But I don't want to infringe any copy rights!

Thank you WerNer for you post. I too was at the concert and will be again tonight in Cologne. This is really a great event bringing together 2 excellent groups. If you listen you wont be disappointed!
