Jonathan Scales Fourchestra is an example of musical sincerity. Weaving together collective and individual influences without compromise, they are as much themselves as they are a unit. Equally captivating is steel pannist and founder Jonathan Scales’ compositional and improvisational approach, as is drummer and percussionist Phill Bronson's graceful polyrhythmic chops and the listening ability of a true master. Bassist Cody Wright rounds out the ensemble with gut-wrenching grooves and blistering soulful melodic lines. Wright’s mix of flash and feel adds a unique depth to the Fourchestra. Together, the group explodes onto stages with "a Thelonius Monk-like attitude and a Mozart creativity that works." (Pan on the Net) The group’s debut collaborative album features Grammy-winning masters Victor Wooten and Howard Levy (Béla Fleck and the Flecktones,) fiddle virtuoso Casey Driessen, and is fully orchestrated with horns and strings. Jonathan Scales Fourchestra will be on tour showcasing new work from their upcoming, self-titled release. Set for an official release on July 9th, the new album will be available at this show at SubCulture. www.jonscales.com Tix: $10/advance and $15/at the door
