  • Location: Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook
  • Latest Activity: Mar 4

“On Saturday August 26th 2017, we are once again planning to have Pan on d’Avenue VI along Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook. The parade route this year is from Taylor Street heading east to Colville Street. This year’s event will be dedicated to deceased Stephen Derek - Masman, Wire bender and resident of Woodbrook. It is also our intention to honour prominent residents of Woodbrook and long-standing members of some Steel Bands throughout Trinidad & Tobago. These two categories represent the unsung heroes of our society and our National Instrument. There will be an opening ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Ariapita Avenue just in front Adam-Smith Square, where these icons shall be awarded before a trailer rolls in with a rhythm section and dancers followed by the Steel Bands.”

Previous Honorees: 1st King, Colin Edghill and Queen, Kay Christopher (2012)
Steel Bands (2013)
Steel Band Arrangers (2014)
Steel Pan Tuners
Steel Pan Percussionists (the Engine Room)

Around thirty bands are expected to be ‘on the move’ in the parade, accompanied by traditional mas characters and moko jumbies. It is expected to run until 2:30 a.m.
