Port of Spain, Trinidad. Monday 5th November, 2018. After a two year break, legendary steel orchestra Shell Invaders will hosting its famous fundraiser “Pan, Parang and Pork” on Sunday 11th November at the Queen’s Park Cricket Club, Woodbrook from 6:00pm to 11:00pm.  The purpose of the event is to raise funds for urgently needed roof repairs and upgrade work  to the band’s pan room and washrooms.

Shell Invaders “Pan, Parang and Pork” is a combination of all the yuletide elements that comprises a traditional Trini Christmas.

The five hour event is packed with live entertainment which begins with Christmas ballads by charismatic singer and musician Kevon Carter, who will also be featured with Shell Invaders Steel Orchestra.  The steel pan aspect of the event rests in the hands of Shell Invaders Youth Steel Orchestra and Shell Invaders Steel Orchestra. Both steel orchestras have prepared a repertoire of popular melodies which will have patrons dancing.

The Parang segment will feature Trinidad and Tobago’s leading parang group, Los Alumnos de San Juan whose energized and engaging performance of well known classic selections and popular Latin songs will excite the audience.

The Parang continues with live performances from Soca Parang Queen and accomplished artiste Marcia Miranda as well as Edwin “Crazy” Ayoung who will be celebrating his 40th Anniversary as the Founder of Parang Soca. The festivity continues with well-known DJ Kern Crosby.

The dining experience begins with each patron receiving four cutters chits, one meal chit and one dessert chit.

On the menu, Dune Ali of Rib House has conjured up exquisite appetizers which feature an array of pork cutters such as slow roasted pork, honey glazed ham in crispy hops bread with Trini Chow Chow, spicy geera pork, pickled pig foot souse, jerk pork and a plated meal of Festive rice, Stewed Pork, Stewed Pigeon Peas, Pork and Beef mixed Pastelle and Cumber Chow.   For the Non-Pork patrons, there is a menu selection which includes, Potato Somosas, Chicken Chunks with BBQ Sauce, Fish Balls with Garlic Dip, Jerk Chicken and Beef Meat Balls with a Savory Dip. The Non- Pork meal replaces the Pork with Festive Chicken and Chicken Pastelle. For dessert patrons will enjoy Flavorite ice cream in an assortment of flavours such as Rum and Raisin,  Trini to the Cone, Peanut, Coconut, Cherry Vanilla and Pistachio.

Patrons are required to make their choice for Pork or a Non-Pork dinner at the outlet when they purchase their specific ticket. An affordable revenue bar is available at the event.
