The NIU Steelband, under the direction of world-renowned Steelpannist Liam Teague and Cliff Alexis, makes a rare appearance in Chicago and will perform a diverse program of original arrangements for Steel Band. The award winning group is credited with being the first active university Steel Band in the United States more than 40 years ago.
The concert also features the world premiere of an original composition for solo steelpan and percussion ensemble by Baljinder Sekhon performed by Guest Steelpannist Dr. Dave Gerhart and CYSO's Percussion Ensemble.
Incl...uding accompanying performances from CYSO's Kaiso Steel Orchestra and Junior Steel Orchestra.
