The Sunshine Steelers perform on instruments hand-crafted by natives of Trinidad (Ellie Mannette, Lloyd Gay, Tony Guppy, and Desmond (“Mappo”) Richardson) and perform socas and calypsos by artists such as David Rudder, Austin “Superblue” Lyons, and Andy Narell. The group performs regularly both on and off campus, and has been featured at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention and various other meetings of professional organizations.
