Event Description

Annual winter concert by OU’s World Music Ensembles (Akwaaba, African ensemble, and Pan-Jumbies, steel band) featuring Trinidadian trumpeter, percussionist and composer Etienne Charles. Charles has received critical acclaim for his exciting performances, thrilling compositions and knack for connecting with audiences worldwide. Perhaps more than any other musician of his generation of Eastern Caribbean origin, Charles brings to his music a careful study of myriad rhythms from the French-, Spanish-, English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean. Mark Stone and Patrick Fitzgibbon – ensemble directors.
