New York, USA - Any steel orchestra that has made it past three years of existence in New York has a chance of survival. Any steel orchestra that has made it past a decade is indeed a bonafide franchise with a serious chance of becoming a New York music & cultural institution. And such is the case of CrossFire Steel Orchestra who celebrated their 15th anniversary recently. |

Hi Martin, good to see you still involved in pan. Your friend from St. James, Robert Gonsalves (and Fatima)
Congratulations Dougie, If I am not mistaken, I think Jeffery "Jeffers" Pierre was the arranger that started Cross Fire on the upswing, I think they ran either 4th or 5th in that panorama and ever since it was no turning back for Cross Fire, Keep the Fire Burning Dougie,
Best of luck to CrossFire, keep up the good work work Dougie.
Call me crazy but I recall some Forty odd years ago playing with a Steel Band named Cross Fire. We practised in a run down building on Washington Avenue in Brooklyn. Most of us were players in Panmaster"s Steel Band that broke up when the then captain of Panmasters, Dave La Barrie collected the first prize money and vanished into thin air. AKA: Tahzann, Aka; Curly!
Congratulations Dougie. I know if you were in NY in the Mid-Seventies, the pan-world would not have been in danger, because all NY bands would have owned their own panyards today. I tried, but my vision was not conceptualized by my peers. If just one person had backed me...........
Well, I gave up, but you do not (lol)
