The JJR Steelpan Relief Fund

The JJR Steelpan Relief Fund is dedicated to three international students from Trinidad and Tobago who are pursuing their Master’s Degree in Music with a specialization in Steelpan performance here at Northern Illinois University.

The three students, Joshua Bedeau (middle), Jalen Charles (left), and Rashunda Dorset-Headley (right), are committed to fulfilling their potential at NIU, and are diligently in pursuit of changing and affecting the Steelband community in Trinidad and Tobago and the world at large. Being an international student at an American university can be quite expensive, even with tuition waivers and on-campus jobs. The relief fund will help aid Joshua, Jalen, and Rashunda in their educational journey, and allow them to fully focus on their degree and make the best out of every opportunity.
