"The state went from a high of 7.7% Black in 1980 to 5.5% Black in 2018, Census data shows, even as it added 15 million residents who were mostly Latino, Asian or multi-racial. Nearly 75,000 Black Californians left the state in 2018, according to a CalMatters analysis of federal estimates, compared to 48,000 Black people who moved in. The three most popular states for Black ex-Californians were Nevada, Texas and Georgia, reflecting both a national reversal of last century’s Great Migration and movement to emerging middle class hubs for Black homeownership, education and entrepreneurship."
I have been documenting these claims before (mostly through observation and private research SINCE AROUND 1998 when I suddenly saw WAVES of ILLEGAL MEXICANS moving into the BAY AREA) but almost all the articles I found were dated. This article is very current and really tells the story in many ways with ever-growing numbers -- on the UP SIDE (HISPANIC) and THE DOWN SIDE (AFRICAN AMERICANS).
This is a CALIFORNIA STORY (not just a BAY AREA story), but I have read similar trends in many other states -- that I did not observe personally. But it is a NATIONAL TREND.
As BIDEN stacks his cabinet with TOKEN FACES at the top, I am hoping that ONE OF THOSE TOKENS wakes him up to the reality of what is happening to BLACK AMERICA as they have now become THE SECOND LARGEST MINORITY GROUP in the UNITED STATES.
(And since we are ALL PANORAMA LOVERS -- we all know that SECOND PLACE is never GOOD ENOUGH!!!)
To most people outside of CALIFORNIA the appointment of a MEXICAN to replace KAMALA HARRIS in the senate was just a news ANNOUNCEMENT. But the BATTLE to get GOVERNOR NEWSOM to replace her with a BLACK FEMALE SENATOR was BITTER and BRUTAL and FIERCE.
I was always sure that he was going with a MEXICAN -- because they OWN THE STATE NOW ... and he has PRESIDENTIAL AMBITIONS.
POLITICS is mostly about RACE and NUMBERS and MEXICANS are the LARGEST DEMOGRAPHIC GROUP in CALIFORNIA, today!!!
I wish that the BLACK CAUCUS in the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES could escape their personal success and power and take a look at this crisis facing AFRICAN AMERICANS.
And KAMALA: She cannot pretend that she does not know what is going on, after all she is an OAKLAND GIRL and the BLACK COMMUNITY in OAKLAND is getting decimated!!!
