For those who don't know, when a person dedicates his or her life to public service, his or her family also pays a sacrifice. My life was affected by my dad's sacrifice, and it hurts deeply to live to see panists today who either disrespect, or are unaware of how he, that ONE man, did things back then that benefit ALL (so-called) panists today. SHAMEFUL!!! You see, my dad left us the greatest gift: a legacy of TRUTH and HONESTY, backed up by facts, burnt in the archives of newspapers, TV interviews, videos, photos, legal documents and college papers. Time stamped forever. (That is what is soooo sweet about truth.) So you thought, because I was rope-a-doping like ALI, ah wasn't going to give a few blows too? That I, his eldest son, would stand back and watch you all turn around and spit in the calloused hands that once helped feed and protect you? The tired, cancer-stricken hands that put (our) history over health, as he finished one of the most, thoroughly-researched, reference book on the “steelband movement”. The ridiculed, slandered, laughed-at patriot, who helped our national instrument gain the worldwide recognition, love, and respect it rightly deserves? I cannot do that; it is not who I am. Even if I were not related to George “Sonny” Goddard, knowing what I know he did, I would defend him just as fiercely. I was born a warrior, and I will die defending the truth. Even if it means falling victim of the savage, unappreciative hands of the keepers of lies. You all have your own consciences to deal with, and that, to me, is revenge enough. Forever In Pan, George D. Goddard, B.A. Music. Cum Laude. Lifetime Member, National Scholars Honor Society

  • That's all well and good but you still have not answered my question. What are you doing about the situation, college boy with HONORS.  holla1
  • Sounds like you ate a bunch of sour grapes. What are you doing to rectify the situation, college boy?
    • Caught your attention, didn't I? I hope the cap doesn't fit you. lmao! Stay tuned; there's a lot more to come... Thanks for your reply, though. Now, why not go pick a fight somewhere else.
      :-)
And, yes, I did attend college. lol.

(It's really funny how cockroaches react whenever the kitchen light is flicked on, and they become exposed. Don't you think? I'm just hitting the light switch, man.)

College Boy. (Did I mention with honors?)
  • Those of us in the steel band world no haw GREAT your father was. Point Blank! What is your problem?
    • What's yours? Mine; the same problem my dad had. Having to deal with a bunch of ungrateful, back-stabbing, self-seeking "ole' niggers", some of whom claim to know how "GREAT" he was, but cannot articulate exactly what he did for the pan movement. (Tell me why you say he was "GREAT". What are his accomplishments?) I attended Florida Memorial University, and while I was there, the vast majority of the young pan majors did not know of him or what he did. Whose fault is that? Short answer: Eric Williams and his loyal supporters, some of whom (still, to this day) disguise themselves as "panmen", and sought out to destroy all George accomplished, and ensure that he would not be respected for the leader he truly was.  The last weekend my dad was alive, he and my mom were waiting for a Diego taxi on Independence Square, and someone yelled out to him: "George Goddard! You aint dead yet!" To this day, Pan Trinbago, has never invited ANY of his family to any event, even when there was an award for him. That after 40 years of sacrifice, the TNT government gave him a national award POSTHUMOUSLY! That even today, it have (so-called) panists who think that Kitchener did more for pan than George Goddard. That, although my mom owns the copyrights to his book, it is being unlawfully, cited and quoted all over the world. (I even found out that someone is actually trying to republish it. Are you kidding me?) Finally, that's the problem(s), but I also focus on SOLUTIONS, and one of them is providing access to FACTS about my dad, so that people like you can better articulate why you say he was "GREAT". (Assuming, of course, you mean it.) And if the cap fits you, then, by all means, wear it. Hope that answers your question.
  • Hello Sir I am a bit confused by your bitterness if all that you say about you dearly departed father is true and I have no doubt that it is would he have responded in liked manner to the situation that caused your bitterness or would he have placed the truth in the public space and allowed all to judge the merits and demerits of all spoken words and actions. Again my own research has shows your father to be a colossal figure in the history, and evolution, of the steelpan and the organisation of its players.

    • Jennie, firstly, I am confused as to the point(s) you're getting at. That said, ANYONE who knows him, knows that he probably would have responded in the exact same way. You may have researched him, but my mom, my three brothers, and I experienced him. (The man, not the public figure.) The TRUTH is offensive, and it takes COURAGE to speak your mind. It's in my DNA; my dad pissed off quite his fair share of people with his true words and honest writings. So, obviously, you don't "know" him. But I'll be happy to help you get to know him, beyond your research, and that is one of the reasons, I even joined this website. To uncover what was intentionally hidden from the masses of "panists" about GEORGE "SONNY" GODDARD. So, where did your " own research" lead you?

BTW- Please also read my reply to Carlton (below), as I think some of the questions apply to you as well. It is what it is. (I really couldn't care about what people are saying about me. As long as they are talking, and "George "Sonny" Goddard is in the discussion.)
