... of course there is a considerable amount of MARKETING required to get this project off the ground; but PAN TRINBAGO has a GLOBAL PAN MEGAPHONE ... only they just don't know it and lack the talent to market the product. So I think that an independent outside group should be allowed to do the marketing under the PLATFORM UMBRELLA of PAN TRINBAGO.

And then the level of MUSICAL TALENT that the PAN PLAYER is going to have to bring to the STAGE to deliver this product is really a ONE IN A MILLION CHANCE coming out of TRINIDAD.

Some of the content of each performance will vary from COUNTRY TO COUNTRY -- putting extra pressure and demand on this LEAD PLAYER. (Go back and read about the trials and tribulations reported by Jonathan Scales on his ASIAN TOUR -- and he is pretty much a musical genius ... so I don't see how a LOCAL could FIT THIS BILL ... yet I still hold out hope as even a watered down version of my ideal show could still find a global audience.)

As I project it, LOCAL MUSICIANS will be used in each country, but the format of the music will remain the same: A few STANDARDS and about FIVE or SIX SONGS native to each country. Which requires a whole lot of musical talent and knowledge from the TRAVELING LEAD PAN SALESMAN.

It is not about JAZZ and it is definitely NOT about PANORAMA MUSIC.

Everything you need to know about the FORMAT and a global standard of performance to represent THE PAN around the world is contained within this ONE PERFORMANCE VIDEO (below). All we need to do in TRINIDAD is to understand it and copy it and find a PAN PLAYER with the TOTAL PACKAGE that is required to deliver the product to GLOBAL AUDIENCES.  And, of course, MARKETING is always the BIGGEST CHALLENGE. But TRINIDAD IS THE MECCA OF THE STEELBAND so we could get some MARKETING MILEAGE out of that.

And, SIDD, you are right. Listen to how the HORNS sweeten the sound of the PAN in THIS VIDEO!!!

    • BRENDA H. -- I just cannot understand how is only YOU AND ME who understand this thing.

But since you are SO ASTUTE and ahead of the curve on the issue of GLOBALIZING PAN MUSIC, I will break my code of silence and tell you a little story.

When DUVONE STEWART came back from his INCREDIBLE RUN IN EUROPE (before the PANORAMA FEVER STOLE HIS SOUL) he told me that one of the most surprising things to him was that when he MET THE TOP MUSICIANS in EUROPE and NORTH AFRICA -- what surprised him THE MOST was how much time these GREAT WORLD MUSICIANS SPEND PRACTICING  PRACTICING PRACTICING -- even though they are ALREADY GREAT.

So you hit it RIGHT ON THE BUTTON, BABY: POLISH!!! POLISH!!! POLISH!!!

      LOVE YOU, LADY!!!

Brenda: Yuh make me TURN UP A CARD -- and I don't TURN UP CARDS on THIS FORUM!!!
