Beverly held Pan Trinbago’s AGM in 2019 outside of what the Pan Trinbago’s constitution dictates. Her excuses for Moore time are poor.

Despite what the constitution dictates on the AGM and the Convention being held within the September – October period, in 2019 Beverley Ramzey Moore held Pan Trinbago’s AGM in November. She and her executive were not ready with reports and she did what it took, illegally I must add, to get her extension. It is humorous to read in a Trinidad Express’ article, that Beverly is claiming that she has to wait on the constitutionally due time, which was to be held originally in Sep-Oct 2021 (last year), to hold that 2021 Convention in Sep-Oct 2022.  If this sounds confusing to you it is because she is making no sense.

It is again disrespectful to see persons who illegally hold on to offices, making pronouncements to the media as to when they intend to hold elections without consulting with the membership. As illegal as it may be, the meeting on May 1st should be about giving the membership a say on what they want. The last time I checked, the membership is still the highest authority in Pan Trinbago. For the past two years, Beverly has insisted on not finding ways to properly meet with the membership because she needed to be supreme leader. But the time for dolly house is over and it is time to respect your membership. Let us discuss, move motions and make decisions together.

Let me list the reasons why the election should have been called as soon as Dr. Rowley lifted the restrictions.

  1. The restrictions could be reinstated at any time. Even right after local elections.
  2. There is turmoil in the organization which fosters an unproductive environment.
  3. The constitutional due date has gone since October 2021 and should be held at the closest possible time to that date.
  4. Beverly’s executive is holding on to office illegally.
  5. Beverly’s executive has occupied office six months into the next executive’s term and is now proposing to stay for a full year.
  6. Beverly’s executive has fallen apart and there are a number of resignations in the zones as well.
  7. The organization is weak because of infighting due to her lack of leadership.
  8. She said that as soon as we could gather, she would have the elections. A leader’s word should at least be worth something.

I hope the members are looking at international news because I am suspecting Beverly is stalling for the second lockdown to reach before elections. China has gotten a relapse of covid and their lock down measures are worse than before. There are a number of countries closing back up.  Then why on earth, other than for selfish reasons, is there a window for us to gather and have 2021 overdue elections now but choose not to take the opportunity? Here is why. Beverley made some alliances with certain big bands and they are mutually benefiting from the current chaotic status of the organization. However, she and the big bands know that single and small bands are the ones who determine the election. During this pandemic period there was very little attention given to those bands. For two years, heavy emphasis was placed on big bands, certain mediums bands and her band from Tobago as if they were the only functional band from our sister isle. As a result, Beverly lacks political confidence at this time.

It is unacceptable to try to use the constitution again to say that an election/convention would normally be held in September/October, therefore she is waiting until then to hold it. Beverly Ramzey Moore is holding the record for violating the constitution in a three-year term the most out of all the other presidents put together in all the years of Pan Trinbago.

Listed some of her violation in chronological order

  1. Refusing to hold a by-election for the PRO and then appointing her friend to the elected position.
  2. Making herself the primary signatory to Pan Trinbago cheques.
  3. Giving less than the amount of days’ notice for the 2019 AGM
  4. Holding 2019 AGM in November without permitting for a special convention.
  5. Not calling the AGM in 2020
  6. Giving her friend’s band a loan from Pan Trinbago’s coffers
  7. Appointing a chairman to an elected post in a Region.
  8. Removal of an elected treasurer to replace him with a person who was not elected to the position
  9. Illegal suspension of officers without due process.
  10. Staying in office beyond three years.
  11. Not calling the Convention/Election in 2021.

It is clear to those who are logically thinking that the constitution, the contract that guides our ethics, is of no value to Beverly and her cabal. She has failed us and now when it is time to face the polls, uses stalling tactics and lies to create an impression of good governance. Leadership doesn't turn out good because you say you are a good leader over and over, it is good when the people who you lead experience growth as a result of the things you do.

Stop stalling and stop trying to fool the public. Step aside and let democracy prevail.
