EIGHT OF HEARTS STEELBAND CONCERT

The Eight of Hearts Steelband Concert is produced by the Laventille Steelband Festival Foundation biennially. It showcases the national instrument in concert form and features the Steelbands placing in the top eight positions of the Large band category in the preceding National Panorama Competition. The 2012 concert will feature nine bands because of the tie for 8th place in this years results.
Steelbands performing a variety of music from their vast repertoire are free to include other acts in thirty (30) minute sets. The innovative use of a double stage has allowed this concert to be the best managed steelband concert in the country with changeover time between bands held to three (3) minutes. The high quality of organization and production has made the top steelbands of the world very eager and excited to be part of this prestigious spectacle and in the three editions to date none of these winners have missed the opportunity.
The inaugural show was produced for Carifesta IX in 2006 and was an unqualified success. The Concert has been held biennially. The 2008 and 2010 concerts had even greater rave reviews and the 2012 event is being better promoted to increase awareness and audience.
The concert is hosted on the open grounds of the Laventille Community Complex within the compound of the Angostura Distillery, so that people are again welcomed into the heart of the Laventille community to be exposed to our brighter side in a secure, comfortable and beautifully appointed setting.
The LSFF Eight of Hearts Steelband Concert 2012 will be the 4th edition of this production Date – Saturday 19th May, 2012 Time – 7.00 pm to 12.30 am Venue – Laventille Community Complex Grounds, Angostura Compound, Eastern Main Road, Laventille
PARTICIPATING BANDS (In Order of Appearance)
There will be nine bands in 2012 because of a tie for the 8th place in the Panorama competition. Bands will appear in the following order:

TICKETS
Tickets went on sale on Wed 18th April, 2012. Tickets are available at the panyards of participating bands, at popular ticket outlets and the Laventille Community Complex, the concert venue (Call 624-0924) Tickets are also available from members of the LSFF committee
Prices are: General admission - $200.00 Special Reserve tickets are $400.00
CONCERT PERFORMANCE
Bands are free to produce their segments as they wish and have engaged various guest artistes to enhance their performances. The list of guest artistes will be confirmed soon.
Shoot out: Bands number 8 and 9 will engage in a thrilling musical shootout to close the concert.
PARKING
Parking is available around the venue and will be secured throughout the night by the Police and contracted security. Patrons can be assured of full protection form arrangements put in place. The record of the LSFF producing 100% incident-free events over the past 13 years speaks for itself.
GENERAL
The Eight of Hearts Steelband Concert has built a reputation for high quality of performance, production and organization. This is the only concert where the 9 best bands in the world are on the same stage on the same night. For this it can easily be called the best Steelband concert produced in Trinidad & Tobago. This has been achieved through no small effort by the bands which have been part of the previous 8 editions.
